I haven't picked a surgeon because my insurance (Blue Cross) is telling me that my policy has an exclusion clause in it.. They won't pay for any bariatric surgery... Any tips on what I should do? I am 34 and have 4 children. I need to lose weight so I can be a more fun mom.... I currently weigh 340.. that is a guess because my scale doesn't go any higher than 330... Rhonda Twitty Kershaw, SC

Hello Rhonda. On 10/15/04 Blue Cross and Blue Shield put a hold on all new claims for Bariatric Surgeries. The ones that have already been approved were ok still to have the surgery, but the new people are now faced with a new clause in the approval process. You now have to have alot more documentation from doctor's and such proving that you have been on a doctor's approved weight loss program for at least 1 - 2 years I think. I got this information from an artical that was posted here on Obesityhelp.com a few months ago. If you have this, I would suggest finding another doctor. I hope this helps you.
