how do i get started
im sorry to ask this question b/c i know its been asked a trillion times but whats the very first step. For some reason im scared to ask my doctor about wls. On my last doctor visit i kinda hinted to the fact that i was interester, i said "i was on this website-obesityhelp.com- and i calculated my bmi and it was like 60." Then he pulled out a bmi reader in the office and measured then said "yah that's about it" and told me to keep talkin the meridia and exercising.
I hinted to my mother that i was interested in the surgery and she said back away from the table like i eat all day or something. I wanted to pinch her.
anyway how do i tell my doctor that i wanna have the surgery.
just come right out and tell him that you have researching the surgery and that you are concerned about your health and want too have it done. If he does not support wls find a Doctor that does. I still have my nutristion class and pysco visit to do before i get my date. I hinted around to my Doc she did'nt get the hint so i had to come right out and say i want to have wls ....
Hi Latasha,
The first thing I did was call my insurance company to find out what I needed to get approved for the surgery. I then called and made an appointment with Dr. Ross to attend the community seminar that is mandatory to attend before they will consider you for the surgery. At this seminar you will get the paperwork you need to fill out and bring to your first consultation if you decide have the surgery.
You should research surgeons also to see who you feel the most comfortable with. Dr. Ross is the only surgeon in Spartanburg County that does WLS. There are serveal in Greenville and Columbia if you don't mind the drive.
These are the first I took. Feel free to email me if you have more questions.
Be blessed,
Lisa
