Foot,Knee Pain, and potential meds...:-S
Hi all,
I thought I would ask a question that didn't relate to my lack of insurance coverage for a change. I have been attempting to exercise, the dreaded "E" word. Also, I have three children, 10 and under, so there are plenty of built in activities requiring me to be active, moreover, on my feet for long periods. My problem is that I have horrible foot and knee pain when I do regular activities. When I push out there to the actual exercise, later in the evenings, I can barely rise from a chair it is so excrutiating. About four years ago I had double heel spur removal, and this pain isn't exactly focused on the heel area as it was before the surgery. It is more all over foot pain from the strain of bearing my weight. Also, I have fallen on my knees a couple of times over the last couple of years, and that has brought on knee problems. I often have the clicking, popping in the joint when rising, and it can actually cause me to loose balance. Needless to say, it doesn't feel real good either. Sometimes I have aching in all the above, especially premenstrual days. Another friend with arthritis has expressed similar symptoms. Finally, I guess what I need to know is, does anyone else deal with this problem, and have you been offered any pain medications, other than Tylenol, Aleve, or anti-imflamatories, like Celebrex? These products can sometimes help alittle, but in my case do NOT cover the problem enough to feel good about exercise on a daily basis. I find if I have an extremely active day, the following day, I find myself looking for a place to sit often from the severity of the foot pain. Needless to say, this constant pain is not condusive to me becoming more active. I have expressed this to my, sometimes less than understanding, family practitioner, who when asked for pain meds, offered up only the Celebrex, and dietary recommendations.
Has anyone else been successful with wrangling even a modest RX for real pain meds for this kind of pain? I appreciate any info you might offer.
Thanks,
Deb
