Hi! I am a newbie!!!

I'm Leisa. 38y/o from Simpsonville, SC. Signed on with Dr Bour and Dr. Cook last month. Have my consultations this week with Cook and the pysch. Dr. I am in quite a pu**** is my understanding that BCBS (G'ville County Employee) will not pay for the surgery after Dec 31. So I am hoping for a date very soon. I have been researching this for over four years with several obsticles popping up along the way but it looks like it might finally happen. Anybody wanna be a buddy? I am a counselor by profession so I know how much group support means in any stressful situation. Really ecstatic to find a SC forum!!! Hope everyone is having a great day! Leisa

Leisa, WELCOME to the SCMB! I am a patient of Dr Bours'. He and his program are WONDERUFL!!! I had my surgery on 08.10.04 and doing well. I have met Dr. Cook once and he seemed very sweet, caring, and educated. I feel that you are in very good hands at that office. I hope that you get approved and a surgery date before the new year! Thanks LA! I have lurked for a couple of days and you always have the sweetest posts. I am glad to hear such great things about the office. I checked out the testimonials for them as well as HIllcrest Hospital a few months ago. I only live about 10 minutes from HH. Good thing for those "just in case" scenarios! Hi Leisa...And WELCOME!!!!! BTW...love the way you spell your name *S* I read your profile, and found those feelings come rushing back over me that I felt when I was asked when I was due. I just wanted to hide under a rock. I immediately went in and gave my daughter a lesson in ettique (did I spell that right...sheesh...all those years of school for naught LOL) ...I told her dont you ever ask anyone about their pregnacy unless you see a shirt with BABY on the front with an arrow pointing to their belly. It made me feel just sick for days. So sorry that someone said something that made you feel badly. I am post op Lap Band. I had my surgery on Oct 14th. Just came back from the scale and I have lost 13 pounds. Which for the Lap Band is considered BONUS pounds. The real weight usually goes after the fill, which I am scheduled to have on Nov 29th. I live in Murrells Inlet....about 10 miles south of Myrtle Beach. Just love it here. Well just wanted to say Welcome. Have a Great Day Annie

Thanks for such a warm welcome. I laughed off the comment at the time but I think the ADULT who asked me that, in front of her child, wanted to crawl under the carpet. I considered the Lap Band but my insurance will not pay for it. Sounds like it is workng well for you!!! Congrats! I grew up in FLorence and spent lots of weekends at Myrtle Beach and many an evening at the Ghost Ship Buffet and Drunken Jacks! Thanks again! Talk soon. Leisa
