This is the time of year for open enrollment for a lot of companies. Check out the various insurance options that your job has to offer and definitely check the "exclusions" section before making a decision. I know some concerns have risen in the past few weeks regarding Companion not covering wls for 2005 and I informed others whom I know that also have Companion. Well, this really may not be true. Policies vary from company to company. I received my open enrollment information on yesterday and Companion will continue to cover wls at 100% for 2005 deemed medically necessary. This is the HMO plan that my job uses. My job uses BCBSNC as its PPO option and it too will also cover wls deemed it medically necessary. For those of you trying to get the approval for the surgery check out all your insurance options; go to the open enrollment sessions, check with your hr personnel, or contact the insurance company. It just may be that your company's policy will provide coverage for wls. Don't give up the fight.
