I could not be more excited. Oct 14th. And I must take this moment to thank Debra Stapleton. THANK YOU DEBI!!!!!! Thanks to her posts...she brought to my attention Dr. Aceves. And I am SOOOO Glad. I had originally wanted the Lap Band. My Doctor here talked me out of it and suggested the RNY...which is another choice that might be great for other people. But I dont think it was the right choice for me. Dr. Aceves had over 4 thousand reasons to not say anything and give me the RNY as my doctor here had suggested. Why,.....because it is 4 thousand dollars more and I was willing to pay it. After talking to me...he made me really think and research. He indicated that if it were him having the surgery under the same cir****tances that I am...he would definately have the Lap Band. Safer. Less intrustive...yes can be a bit slower on the wieght lose...but ends up with about the same wieght loss..and doesnt seem to get as much of a wieght gain after. I dont know why...or maybe it was just that...that he didnt take in consideration the money...he took into consideration what was best for me.....but I just feel better about Dr. Aceves than I do my Doctor here. Of course I dont think it helped my doctor here when I read the post under Melanie Bracey that her husband posted after her death. So far they have been wonderful. I have been a complete pest!!! and Nina....his coordinator....has emailed me everyday....usually several times...answering my several questions *S* Its funny....this last week.....I havent even had the surgery yet...and I already am feeling better and more positive. And now....so SOON.,..I am approved!!! And have a DATE!!!! Annie

Ann, I am soooooooooooooooooooo Happy for you! Yes, it is rare to find a Doctor that is more concerned about YOU then the money. And Dr. Aceves is one of those few. He is a such a wonderful Man. You will do well, and in perfect hands! Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Hugs Debi

Congratulations on your date! I am very happy for you! Just curious- who will do your follow up since you are having surgery out of the country? I just wondered if there is a doc here that is willing to take on someone else's patients? I have heard it can be hard to get another surgeon to follow another doc's patients? I hope you have been able to find someone, and again... congrats on your date!!! Cindy

Hi Cindy, In my case I will be having at least the first couple of fills at my doctor in Mexico. I actually am originally from Orange County...and lived in San Diego..my brother still lives in SD...and my sister in OC....so I go out there quite a bit anyway...for holidays and such. I actually have scheduled my first fill....and I am still pre op...but made the appt for the Monday after Thanksgiving. Usually flights out there (when not the holidays and are booked ahead of time) are about $233 round trip. They did go up about a week ago....maybe the cost of oil going up or the holidays...not sure. But I personally have reasons to go that direction anyway. My doctor there has you eat something, that what Debi informed me, to make sure the fill is correct. I also plan on trying in the future to have my fill at the begining of the stay...so I will have 2 or 3 days to make sure it is okay. I guess I should look into doctors here that do fills. I know my doctor in Mexico said he would contact any doctor i wanted in the US and let him know all my info. The problem really probably is...that the doctors dont like to treat Mexico patients here...they would rather you give them the money *L* But I am not really sure at this point. Annie
