hernia surgery
Hey Deborah, was thinking about you last night and wondering how you are holding up! 5 days!! You go girl!!!!!!!!! So happy for you. I so wish the best for you and know everything will go just fine! Then you can come back and tell me how it is on the lighter side of town hahah!
I did choose a Dr. I choose Dr. Espinal and called the office to get the packet sent to me, should come today! I also did alot of research and found out what my insurance company requires... printed it out so I can make sure and go step by step. Also, got my diet diary typed up and with that included my personal letter that will go to the insurance company.
So, now just just have to fill out these papers and wait til the first of the month. ( Insurance kicks in then)
I feel I have gotten alot completed, but I wish I could do more durning these 2 weeks waiting. A friend of mine that works in the Hospital and deals with insurance and stuff ( she also used Espinal) is going to get with me next weekend to look over my paper work and insurance stuff so we make sure I have every tiny detailed covered! I had forgotten about her and my husband reminded me... esp. about her working in the hospital! LOL.. I had just totally forgot! So, she will be a big help to me.
You take care and please keep in contact! You were the very first to say hello to me on here and for that I thank you!
Hugs,
Debi
good morning deborah,
i saw your question about hernia surgery and thought i'd share my info/experience with you. i'm 3 years out of surgery and have been told that alot of times overweight people have hernias that nobody knows about from being overweight. when the weight is gone they show up. and sometimes the hernias are incisional which is what i have had. my surgery was opened and anytime you have abdominal surgery it causes the abdominal muscles to weaken and increases the chances of hernias. lifting, straining, falling, coughing, exercise, etc. early/after surgery can cause the problems. i've had 2 hernia surgeries and as far as i'm concerned that's a small price to pay considering the amount of weight i have lost and how much better i feel!! so, in answer to your question, from what i have heard in support groups that i have attended since my surgery, hernias are pretty common things.
