Anyone with BCBS of SC, please advise????

Hi all, It seems I just can't catch a break. I lost my Medicaid coverage just as I was finishing all the preliminary work, and now my husband's new insurance looks to be no help as well. My hopes are truly dashed, again! So much so, that I couldn't even work up the energy to write yesterday, but out of desperation, I now have mustered up the energy. I need to ask if anyone out there has BCBS of SC, Perferred Blue Coverage, and somehow miraculously gained insurance approval, even with this exact wording in their Exclusions and Limitations section..."We will not pay for benefits for...Any treatment or Surgery for Obesity (even if Morbid Obesity is present), weight reduction, weight control such as gastric-by-pass, insertion of stomach (gastric) banding, intestinal bypass, wiring mouth shut, liposuction or complications from it."? I am very doubtful with this kind of rock solid exclusion wording I have any hope left of getting coverage for the surgery from them, but I thought I might as well ask you all. I thought I had remembered reading one or two of you might have had exclusions but managed to get their approval, or maybe I am just wishful thinking. It is just such a let down after waiting for my insurance to go into effect, waiting to receive the info packet, just to read those sad words. Deb, Sorry about your dilemna! I have BCBS Anthem. They also say in the booklet that they don't cover anything with weight loss. I called and asked them and they said they cover it if I can prove some things. My doctor wrote one letter and it was approved in about 2 months. I had the surgery on June 22nd. I hope this helped some. Jacquie

I am sure you are having such a problem. I have bcbs state and i did not have any problem with them. So try them and see. Maybe its the way it is written up. Good luck, tracy
