New to board!

Hi there! I have been reading the posts for the past few months and have been excited for those of you with nearing dates....I am so happy for you!!! I know that everyone will do just fine. I have my first appointment with Dr. Byrne on Sept 2....unfortunately, my present insurer does not cover WLS so I am taking out a second mortgage for this....well worth it I think!! Although its quite possible I may be switched to BCBS of SC before I get a date, if he approves me. I had a date with Dr. Sabback, but with him I would need to pay for surgery completely up front. By using Dr Byrne, the surgery is at MUSC and they only require half the estimated amount down (about 8500.00). If he accepts me. My family thinks I am crazy but I have been battling the bulge since the 3rd grade. I am so excited to do this! My biggest fear is not making it through the surgery, and who will take care of my son and animals....and I am sure that it will not get any better as the time nears.

Linda, welcome to the board and congrats on your decision. I would have mortgaged my home if my insurance hadn't paid for my surgery! Denise

Hey Linda....I think the same things about not making it through and then I think about how soon I will die if I don't get the weight off. I have 2 sons 15 and 13. I also want to be healthy enough to see my grandkids grow up.....so think positive....We will be fine!!!! Angie in Rock Hill

HI Welcome. Dr. Byrne is my doctor. I really like him and his staff is great. Sorry to hear aboout your insurance troubles. But they will help you any way they can. They have made it easy for me.
