Support Group in Spartanburg?

Hi! I will be having my RNY in Columbia with Dr. Strickland on 8/18. I would like to be able to go to a closer support group than having to go to Columbia. I heard there was one at the Westside Branch of the Library. Does anyone know when it is and what time? Thanks!!

hi, I had my surgery with Dr.Givens in Columbia and I live in Campobello,about 20 min. from Spartanburg. I would like to go to a support group in Spartanburg let me know if you find out anything. Thanks! Angela

Hi, Angela! I am still waiting for the man that runs the group I heard about to call me. I got his name and phone number from the Westside branch of the Spartanburg Library this morning. Hey Connie, My name is Sheri and I am new to this group. I have also heard about this meeting at the Library. I just left a message for Wayne, hopefully he will get back to me and if so, I will let you know. Where in Spartanburg do you all live? I have just moved here from the Chicago area and do not know many people. I am having my surgery Monday 8-2-04 and would love to know of another meeting to attend while on my journey. I do know that Spartanburg Regional has a meeting, the 2nd Wed. of every month at the hospital. Why did you choose to go all the way to Columbia for your surgery. Would love to hear from you. Sheri

Hi, Sheri! Welcome to Spartanburg! Sorry I didn't respond sooner - we just got back last night from the beach. I believe the support group at the Westside Library meets on the second Tuesday of each month. The time, I believe, is 7 p.m. You go in the main library entrance and it's the first or second door on the right (Wayne wasn't sure). I live in Cedar Bluff. It's on the westside, right off of Reidville Road. Are you having your surgery in Spartanburg? I decided to go with Dr. Strickland in Columbia for several reasons: he has done over 400 surgeries - at the time I talked with Dr. Ross he had done only 80; I knew a man who had gone to Dr. Strickland and was very happy with him - I didn't know anyone who had used Dr. Ross; and finally, just gut feel - I didn't get a good feel from Dr. Ross but I did from Dr. Strickland.
