PRE-OP TESTING???
That depends on many factors: your doctor, your other medical conditions, your insurance requirements.
For me, I have had a cardiac study (my insurance required it). I am scheduled for a dvt (deep vein thrombosis) study. That's basically an ultrasound of the legs to make sure you don't have any existing clots. The same day I have my ultrasound, I will have my pre-op lab work done (basic bloodwork). After that it's the greenfield filter a week later, and a week after that RNY surgery.
Pulmonary studies (lungs) are not uncommon. And then if you have medical conditions that could complicate surgery, then the doctor may order other tests.
Hope this is helpful!

Hey Debbie Pre-op testing was a piece of cake for me. First went by my surgeon's office got the papwork and then went to another surgeon's office who was to place my Greenfield Filter. Then it was on to the Hospital to have bloodwork, chest xray, ekg, and they weigh you and make a complete history chart of all surgeries in the past and medical problems. I live in Greenwood so they were nice enough to do all of the leg work in one day!! I had my surgery in Anderson, SC. Can only say GREAT THINGS about Dr. Jordon!! I have lost 15 lbs. in 5 days and am feeling great!! The filter(Greenfield) was placed after being put to sleep minutes before my surgery. Takes about 10-15 minutes for the procedure!! I did not realize that I still had a bandage untill 2 days later and the nurse said you could not even see where they go through the groin artery. I got home from the Hospital today after having an open procedure!! Ivy
