Many doctors do not accept Medicaid/Medicare because they can't afford to provide the services needed at the rate they are reimbursed. Many insurance companies do not cover this surgery either. I don't know your financial situation, but perhaps you can take out a policy for yourself. Make sure before you do that they cover this surgery.
Jeannette- I am seeing Dr.Henry Jordan in Anderson, SC. He accepts Medicaid/Medicare. I had my consultation with him on June 8th and had an approval from Medicaid on June 16th. I went to my appointment hopeful and armed with 15 years of Medical History, letters from 3 different Physicians stating that WLS was my only option after many years of failed dieting. I have GERD, Asthma, bad knees, and several slipped and bulging disk, stress incontience, and Sleep Apnea. My information was sent into Medicaid and an approval was sent back NO QUESTIONS asked. This is truly a happy day for me because I do not want to live another day fat and miserable!
PS- Dr. Rowitz in Anderson also accepts Medicaid/Medicare!
