Dr. Givens patients please reply

I have have my first consultation on May 24th. I was told to get a pych eval done. I did that on May 27th. The eval was sent in on June 2nd. Now I wait. Tell me is there anything elese that should be going on during this time. I called the office but no one is returning my calls. Puzzled as to what happens now. Help please if you are his patient.

hi deborah, i am a patient of dr. givens. im sorry to hear that they didnt return your calls. they are always very promt. i know the waiting is so hard. i started my journey last sept. i am having surgery on tue the 8th. of june. if you have done all of the testing , now you just wait sorry to say. they have to send everything into your insurance. sometime the answer takes a while. then the drs office will start to set up you appts. you will be doing a lot of pre-op testing. that can take some time. i spent a lot of my time reading anything i could about this surgery and what i need to do after. it is hard to wait . if i can be of any help let me know . god bless. debra

Bug your insurance company! My insurance company (BCBS of Texas) was very nice. First I called and they informend me they had received my packet and while she had me on the phone, she delivered it to medical review. This may have kept it from sitting in the stac****il the next day. They told me it would take about a week for a decision. So I called after 4 business days and they had my results. Note: they send the approval letters out to you and the doctor's office. Normally you receive yours first. I got my letter about 1 1/2 weeks after I found out on the phone that I was approved. Lisa (Dr. Strickland and Dr. Givens surgery scheduler) told me I could fax my copy of approval to them because their's usually takes a couple more days to get there. That way, they could go ahead and start scheduling. For me, everything has been great, until I got the call from Lisa, about 3 weeks before my June 1st surgery date, to inform me that everyone on that day was having to be rescheduled because Dr. Givens was going to be out of town (Bariatric Surgery Conference). So, with other peoples vacation schedules at work, I have to wait until July 28th . Good Luck! Gwen

Deborah, you have probably already gotten your answer by now.... but after your psych eval you have to just wait. The waiting game is no fun but we all had to do it..... just wait until the wait from knowing your actually surgery date until the date arrives... that is the hard wait!
