Help: the psychiatrist

What should I do? I went to the psychiatrist today. He said he is going to tell the surgeon to have me go on a year long diet. Dose he have the power to stop the surgeon from helping me? I am 5'3", 280 I need help.

I'm not sure about that. Who did you see? I saw Dr. Linda Moore in Columbia and she was great. Basically asked a few questions and you filled out some questions on paper. I have never heard of a psychiatrist keeping you from your surgery.. I guess that would have to be up to your surgeon. Good luck.. keep us posted! Patti

Maybe you should go see another pschychologist and get a second opinon. I seen Dr.Foster in Spartanburg. I had no problems they were great, and they were very quick to complete the report and send it in. Have you completed a diet history list? Some insurance co. require you to have tried diets for at least 6 months or for 1 year. Sorry you had a bad day.

Deborah, I agree. I would get a second opinion. What prompted the psycholoigst to say that you needed an additional 12 month diet? If you decided that you wanted to see another one, I could recommend the person I saw in Greenwood. A real wonderful lady. I hope that this journey sees you well! Leigh Ann
