Post-Op Eating Question

I am currently 25 days post-op (and I have lost 28 pounds ) and I have been eating normal meals for about 1 1/2 weeks now , but I just got so tired of protein shakes 3 times a day. Anyway-- How do you know the feeling when you are full and when you are hungry?? I know, strange question, but for years I have eaten when I was not hungry and I have overeaten until I was uncomfortable, so I have yet to "feel" hungry and "feel" full. My mom has said that in time I will learn to recognize the signs again but I thought I would ask all of you fellow post-ops out there this question. too. Thanks, Patricia

Hi Patricia, I'm glad to see that everything worked out well for you. I've been thinking about you. I responded to your questions back in Nov. We are now all settled in here in Goose Creek and really enjoying it. When I first started eating "real food" I could tell I was full because I would get to where I would feel like I could not take one more bite. Usually I could eat almost a whole egg with a slice of cheese, or a 1/4 cup of cream of wheat, now I get the hiccups when I am full. lol Everytime I eat I get the hiccups. You will learn when your pouch is full. I always measured my food to make sure I didn't try to over stuff it. I am working at The Vitamin Shoppe that just opened on the corner of Ashley Phosphate and Rivers. We have a huge selection of low carb, high protein things and it's all at least 40% off during the rest of March. We have the Nectar protein, and all the different bars that you read about on here that people love. I wanted this job to be able to meet other Wls patients and share my journey with them. I've already met several. If you get a chance and would like to, check us out. Hopefully I'll be working when you come in. I'd love to meet you. Good Luck and Keep Up the GREAT job that you are doing. Carol 08/01/03 270/178/135

Hi Carol, I know your post wasn't directed at me, but I wanted to let you know that because of your post my mom, dad and myself plan to come in the store tomorrow to check out the "goods" on sale. We have all had WLS. My dad had his in April of last year, mine was in Sept of last year and my mom just had hers in Jan. If you're there we will be sure and say hi! Belinda

Hi Carol, My name is Odessa and I was just going to visit the Vitamin Shoppe on Ashley Phosphate on yesterday. I changed my mind because traffic was just starting to get heavy. I just said that I will be stopping by today to see if they had the protein shakes and other things I will be needing. I am scheduled to have rny surgery at MUSC on the 14th of May. I think it is great I happened upon your email response. I have so many questions about the things that I need from a shop like the one your work in. When I come in, I sure will look for you if you don't mind. This is exciting and too cool.
