Please let me know how bad it really is!! When can I return to work? Talk to me guys!!! Does Dr. Byrnes keep the NG tube in for too long?

Hi Dandi! It's not that bad...really it is not. I had Open RNY with Dr Bryne back in May 2003. Plan to be out of work 6 weeks. (that depends, too, on the type of work you do) I do desk/computer work...so I was up at the computer about 3-4 weeks postop. The NG tube came out within 24 hours after surgery. Being on the morphine pump helps a bunch..and sorta fogs the ole memory of the tube coming out. It is a very quick removal..and not much time to say...Oooo..that felt weird! Good Luck! LisaH BTW...you have picked one of the best surgeons in the country for this type of surgery! He has great a reputation.
