lap band. availability and costs

Have just discovered that my insurance company doesnt cover lap band surgery, am terribly disappointed... Does anyone know approximate costs and what my best options are? Also about payment plans?

Try and see what your insurance does cover in the way of weight loss surgery, alot of insurances are not covering the laproscopic part becuase the deem it as experimental still, but they will cover an open surgery like the RNY. So first see what is covered, and then find the surgeon that wil do it.

My does not cover lap band surgery either. I will be going to Monterray, Mexico (Dr. Rumbaut). He was raised in Akron, OH. From my research I have seen him listed several times as one of the top lap band surgeons in the world. He also has the band himself so he is very understanding. It costs about $10,000 to have in done in Mexico (FAR less than the US). There are other well know surgeons there who also perform the lapband for less. I believe Rumbaut has performed over 1800 of them (far more than any doc in the US). There are financing companies that will finance the surgery for you (I believe medicredit is one). Good luck.
