Denial due to Exclusion

I have Companion POS, and I contacted them in August, 2003, about gastric bypass. I was told at that time that it would be covered if it was medically necessary. I have a letter of medical necessity from my PCP, but when they called to make the referral, it was denied due to an exclusion in my policy. I have sent an appeal to both the insurance company and the South Carolina Dept of Insurance. Anyone else have a similar experience?

The exclusion is probably on your employers part if ur working if so check with your employer to see if they will lift the exclusion they do this too kepp costs lower
