INSURANCE QUESTION AGAIN......
I know of 2 people who had wls last year and medicaid paid for it. Unfortunately, the doctor's are now charging $3,000 up front before they will do the surgery even with medicaid. I have a friend who has medicaid and the doctor's in Florence are willing to do the surgery but she doesn't have the $3,000. Good luck to you.
My doctor in Chas Sc takes medicaid and doesnt charge 3,000,or anything besides norm.Email me if you want to call his office and make the drive.Hes great,Rny only,[email protected]
I would try to get approval thru both insurances but medicaid does cover at 100% approval usually takes about 1-2 months tho thru medicaid check to see whats doctors are in ur area who perform the surgery and if they clal for any money up front some have begun to charge high fees even with insurance that has to be paid upfront. Im going to Dr. Ross at spartanburg regional and so far no upfront fees have been mentioned
I was just thinking the same thing after i posted yesterday if you already have insurance how do u also have medicaid usaully they have to go thru regular insurance first and medicaid picks up what the insurance wont cover so im assuming this is how it may go if you have both they would have to submit to primary insurance first medicaid second and i dont see anyone giving someone medicaid just because insure wont pay and we are too poor to self pay would be nice tho huh lol
Hi, I have SC medicaid and I have a surgeon in Charleston, SC that is just wonderful. He takes medicaid and does not require any money out of your pocket. They handle all of the paperwork for you, and are truley a godsent. Currently, I am waiting for approval myself. I know that medicaid pays because I looked it up on their web sight. I have no other insurance. I would just try medicaid alone. Your primary care physician has to deem it medically nessicary though. If you can get a letter from your PCP that says that and you fit the other criteria, you should have no trouble getting approved.
