Dr Scott and Meg at Dr Bours Office

So, I recently had my 30 month checkup. The week prior I had just finished running my 4th marathon. I run 25-30 miles/week. I felt going into my check up like, well, a rockstar. I've worked hard and dangit, I am proud of myself!!!

At the appt, Dr Scott went over the results of my labs. Protein alittle low, other numbers good. old him about the marathon...he's not impressed....hmmmmmmm. I have to admit-I got alittle peeved. But then in talking to him, its pretty clear.

At 24 months I weighed 250lbs. I've ran 3 marathons in the last 6 months and run 25 miles/week, and at my 30 month appt, I weigh 250lbs. My goal is around 220-225.

Chances are, in 20 years I won't be running like I am now, BUT-I will be eating. And if I don't get my eating habits in check, when I stop running...I will go back to where I was 2 1/2 yrs ago...

DANGIT I hate it when Dr's are RIGHT!! especially if I'm feeling like a rockstar. But-kudo's to Dr Bour for hiring someone who does not sugar coat it, does not sympathize it. Dr Scott could have easily said "Way to go good for you yayyyyy" but he didn't. He brought me back down to earth, made me re-focus, and made me realize above all else (exercising vitamins) that what you put in your body (eating) is what counts. Crap in results in crap results. Good in, results in good results. I like Dr Scott.

I then have an appt with Meg. I wanted Cami because I know her but Meg had an opening. I have to say-she is REALLY good at what she does. She's always smiling-but her message is strong and clear. Crap in is crap results, good in is good results (OK-thats me para-phrasing but you get the idea). She put me onto a better diet where I still have good tasting food. Her idea of cutting back on diet soda (eliminating it even) and concentrating on proteins has helped my running incredibly. In one week I can feel the difference. I feel SO MUCH MORE stronger while running its amazing.

So, with humble-ness I now bow to the real rockstars, Meg the nutritionist and Dr Scott. And after 30 months I have realized, the door at Dr Bours office is always open, I just have to use it in order to get back to success

The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.....John Bingham aka The Penguin

Where may I ask are you carrying 250 pounds? It must be in your back pocket, lol. You do not look like you weigh 250 and I'm glad I didn't bet money on your weight, I would have lost big time. So you like that doctor, huh? I didn't, but maybe I wanted more encouragement instead of what I got, which was similar to your story. Not one ounce of anything positive that I can remember, and I left feeling like I was wasting my time walking and that I needed to do some sort of exercise that is too hard for my body to handle. I'm trying to lose 5 lousy pounds and can't get it to budge so I might have to resort to" killing" myself to get them off. Why does everything have to be so damn complicated when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off?
Just the same, I think that what you have accomplished is terrific and I will tell you I am impressed and will pat you on the back if I ever see you again.
I guess I need to get an appointment with Meg and see what she can do for me. I have never met her so maybe she will do me more good than the others. If you get a chance send me an email and give me some hints at what she told you  to do. My email address is [email protected].

Hugs and pats!
Mary

I am using that group but haven't met Dr Scott or chosen a Dr yet.  I hope to have surgery this summer and I understand Dr Bour is taking some time off so I may not have a choice but to wait or use Dr Scott, so I am happy you were happy with him.  I haven't met Cammi but Meg did our Nutricianal assessment last week.  I was under impressed.  I had questions that were not answered, although I have her email and plan to ask that way.  Glad you had a good experience with her and hopefully I will also.
Thanks for sharing.

Dr Bour did my surgery-back when it was JUST Dr Bour. But I have heard great things about Dr Scott-and I can attest that his followup, his "bedside manner" so to speak, is fantastic

Meg is a HUGE wealth of information, I think she just isn't wonderful infront of groups-but one on one-Meg and Cammi both amazing and hold you accountable and say it like it is-which I LOVE.

Good luck with the process--its worth every hoop you jump thru!! and they do have the knowledge and support. I had huge weight loss in the first 6 months because I followed everything they said to the letter...I figured there was a reason they were on THAT side of the desk and I was on THIS side of the desk :)

thanks, Chris.  I really felt I was with the right group but I like being reassured also.  I just wish I could make the time speed up.  I will start support sessions next week and am looking forward to more information.
Thanks again.
