Question

I have a question about procedures to get insurance approval. I went to a clinic in lexington, SC, which my insurance, Cigna told me was a Center of Excellence. Anyways, I went to the seminar, I made an appointment, saw the doctor, saw the psychologist, gave doctor info on the dr. who did the 6 months weight management supervision, and my other doctors. But I have never sent any papers to Cigna, the doctor's office said they will do that. Yesterday I called to see the status on my surgery journey and they said they were waiting for Insurance approval. Is that the way it works? Because I have read here about people who send themselves all the info, so can someone who has Cigna tell me about their experiences, please?

I went thru Lexington Medical & they took care of everything with the insurance, I sent nothing myself & then all of a sudden I got an approval letter from my insurance co.  Fab

Thank you for your info.  this Friday (July 10th) I got approved also.  Now I am waiting for surgery date.  Who was your doctor?  IMine will be Dr. Antonetti.  He seems very nice and reassured me every time he talked to me.  How long did it take them to assign you a surgery date?  Do you get to give any input on the date? 

Dr. Strickland was my surgeon, but a good friend of mine had Dr. Antonetti & loved him.  Now that you have recieved your approval, I would just call Riverside & tell them you got your approval & wanted to get your date scheduled asap, so you can plan around it & that will get them moving.  I found that I had to call them regularly to keep things moving forward, they have a tendency to let files sit around on desks way too long...  You can call them anytime and just tell them you want an update on your status! Congratulations on your approval...

Yes, I know what you mean about having to call hem.  I called them several times trying to get my nutrionist eval done and they finally told me they have sent my papers tothe insurance.  But the insurance called me telling me I needed the nutritionist evaluation and they had to do it next day.  Anyways, yesterday I got my surgery date (Yipeee!)  August 18th.  Now, I am waiting the call on the pre opappoinments.  I am having the lap band and a little anxious about it.   Thank you for answering my question.  I will keep you posted.
