Hey, I am trying desperately to have this surgery done. I am 52 and weigh 235 lbs. I have many health problems.I thought I was on my way and then my
medicaid was cancelled. Said I made 100$ too much a month. This has devastated me. I am working to get this back. One way or the other I am
determined to have this surgery. I am on disability and I am so tired of just
existing. I want to LIVE again. This is so important to me. I come to this site
every day and read all the postings. Hopefully, someone will know how I feel.
I live in Conway,SC. Just a hop, skip and jump from Myrtle Beach. Hoping to
find some friends! Please get in touch with me!
Thanks! Beth

Hi Beth,

I am from Hartsville SC and I had my surgery done 11 months ago down in Conway.  Keep fighting I do know how you feel.  Have you seen a surgeon yet or sat in a seminar? They are very informative.  Feel free to PM me if you want to talk and welcome to the group.

Hey Wanda,
Thanks so much for replying! Yes, I went last fall to the one that Dr. Balder has. I was ready to do the paperwork. So excited after the seminar. The next
day I got a note that my medicaid was being cut off due to a small alimony
payment my husb. makes. I have been so disappointed. But, as I said, I am not giving up. The first thing I have to do is quit smoking. I go next Mon. to Dr.to get Chantix for that. In the meantime, I am working to get medicaid reinstated. Have you had good results? How was the surgery for you? Please let me know. Did Dr. Balder do yours? Please give me any suggestions you can. I am
ready to do this for me. Its time I start living again! Thanks for writing.

Get things in order. I know it seems like the whole world has crashed down on you. We've all been there. But put things in perspective. First, quit smoking. Surgeons won't operate if you smoke.
Next, figure out the mess with Medicaid. That's a biggie, and I don't know how you're going to do it, because I don't know medicaid at all. But, I know you'll figure that out too. Good for you for getting alimony. I've never been able to get anything like that.
Then, after the dr approves, and you have the money, get the surgery. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me. I've lost 85 pounds and kept it off for 2 years. I'm in good shape and I'm 59 years old. It's wonderful. I"m going for liposuction this week.
Yep, girl, you can have it all. One step at a time.

Hi Beth!

Boy do you sound like me! I prayed for three years for the surgery and April 21,2009 I got my prayer answered. I had a surgeon's staff memeber who I frequently spoke with to tell me and I quote, "Don't ever give up! Girl you just keep trying!" and that is just what I did.

I had a Drs. office tell me if I got 15,000. my insurance would pay.....after my husband sold his boat and motorcycle and we had the money I was told NO! I did not give up!
I never gave up and I was on this site looking at pic and trying to keep my focus.
A year ago my husband had a stroke which devestated us both. We no longer had the insurance at all. Medical bills and our finances went to H#ll in a handbasket quick! To make a long story short I had to get a "real" job. I have fibromylagia and art t/o my body. I have had a total knee L and need one on my right. I could not imagine having to work a real job. But with medication and lots of prayer I will be at my new job 1 year September. A N D**** I have lost 59 pounds! Most of all I got the surgery and I am so thankful! I praise God and my words are to you are never give up and pray and trust God. By the way I live in the upstate area and my name is Cindy****nice to meet you.
