I don't like food anymore - Having a hard time finding something to eat.

Hi guys. It's been a while since I've posted. I haven't had a lot of time and what little time I do have is spent on World of Warcraft. (I'm addicted :P) I'm a little over 2 months out of surgery and I gotta say, everything has went perfectly. I've lost close to 60 pounds and I'm finally under 300 pounds again. I'm looking better and more importantly, feeling better.

My only problem is, I no longer like food. Hardly anything appeals to me. I can eat pretty much anything, with the exception of really rich, sweet stuff, which gives me dumping syndrome. If you've never had that, OMG it sucks so bad. And there's the bread and pasta stuff, which if I eat that stuff, it feels like my pouch is going to burst coz it expands after I eat it. I try to take my vitamins every day, but I tend to foget a lot of times. I don't take the protien supplements, because honestly, I haven't had any problem in that area. I have energy, and my hair isn't falling out so I figure I'm good there.

I just need to find soemthing that I can eat and actually enjoy. It's like I have to force myself to eat. I get hungry, but nothing appeals to me, with the exception of a few things and I either can't afford to eat that stuff all the time (El Titanic Mexican in Belton - LOVE that place) or if it is something that I don't mind eating, I'll get sick of it after eating it all the time.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Sweetie, you are only two months out, so everything  with your   taste for food  will  change,in time.
The thing that bothers me about what you said is the part about sometimes forgettng your vitamins and not using protein suppliments. Your not going to notice anything going on this early out, but believe me, eventually it will catch up with you. Your hair will fall out,   yo u will start to notice your energy  level leaving, muscle wasting, and  other    things that only your blood work will catch. I have always taken my vitamins and protein suppliments and even now at 3 1/2 years out I am having problems with my iron levels, zinc, and a few other things dropping way too low. I am now on prescription iron and zinc in addition to my vitamins and protein.
I wish I still had a problem with nothing appealing to me, but my appetite is back to the way it use to be before surgery and it sucks having to watch everything I put in my mouth now and trying to keep the weight off is as  hard as it was before surgery. Hang in there and please take your suppliments.

Hugs!
Mary

Hey Mary. Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I guess I should start taking the protein stuff again then, huh? I figured if I hadn't had any problems by now then I was getting enough protein from what I was eating. I do manage to take my viatmins most days. I just forget to sometimes. Dr. Ross said as long as I take em at least 5 days a week, I was ok.

Hi CW

Mary is correct on the vitamins and proteins... I got really deficinate in those and my body really did eat my muscles... It took me over a year to build back up muscle mass and I hurt something awful... I have our eatting plan on my profile if that will help you any....

good luck,
Stephie
