help with weight loss surgery

A lil about me. IM 28 435 pounds.  I was a truck driver.I have been having feet and knee problems so bad to wear i cant walk or get around with out a wheel chair. So i have no job so i have no insurance and most doctors wont see me without insurance.Ive applied for disability and its been close to a year now and still no answer on that, cant get any help anywere. Any  one know of places or somebody were they help people who cant afford weight loss surgery. Also does anyone know once i get disability if its approved does that cover weight loss surgery.. thanks for any help and sorry about long story .   im also new to this site so u can post any info on here or send me a PM.      thanks

I'm sorry about you situation.  I don't know how I can help, but I did want to mention that (I think) when you apply for disability the time frame is 120 days to have an approval or denial letter sent to you.  Maybe you should start harrassing those folks to get on there job !!

Hey thanks for the reply,  yea usually 120 days but somehow my stuff got screwed around somehow my luck lol,, but finally got a letter to were i have to go to there approved  docter, so hopelly thats a step closer .

Once you get your disability...you have to wait 16 - 18 months to get medicare.  If I am not mistaken, but you should quailfy for medicaid...Some doctors take medicaid.   Medicare pays for WLS  I have Medicare and they paid  but I had to wait for my Dr to become a Center of Excellance  Medicare will only pay if they are.    Medicaid  for the medically needy does cover WLS  but I am not sure of the requirements.      Check with your local DSS  they can help you.    Good luck. with your journey....  Keep call SS about your disability and if you get denied  (you usually do the first time you apply)  Appeal it and you will get it with in 30 - 60 days.   Don't give up,  my daughter got her disability on her weight.. and she weighs what you do and she too is under 30.....
