I'm 18 months out from surgery. I had a somewhat unusual cir****tance and body shape. I lost 30 pounds pre-surgery and was at 306 the day of surgery. With a daily walking program of 3+ miles, I lost 100 pounds in five months. I had my first plastic surgery at 5 months (had 25 pounds of skin removed). I was basically at my target weight at that time. I continued to lose weigh and ultimately got down to 146. I looked like death warmed over. With help from my plastic surgeon and my nutritionist, I was able to gain about 20 pounds (try doing that on 1/2 cup of food per meal). I'm now at 165-170 and feeling great. And looking good, too. I have maintained my weight for the last year with no problems or setbacks.
I, too, would do it all over again. I had my tonsils and uvula removed in December, 08, to cure my sleep apnea. No more CPAP, prescription drugs, or insulin. Just my daily vitamins.
The only thing I miss is eating for pleasure and being able to really enjoy a meal. Some things taste really good and just as I get a good feeling from the taste of something, I'm full and have to stop. The good part is being able to eat leftovers for several more meals.
