problems with the liquid protein
Terri,
Every aspect of this surgery and diet is different for everyone. There's really no way to tell which phase is going to be better or worse for you, until you try it. Personally, I'm up to Stage 3 and I haven't had any problems with the food as far as intake is concerned. But on the same hand, I've run across people that are 5-6 weeks out and cannot hold anything down. So, it's just different for everyone.
Now, the only problem that I've had yet is that as of today, I haven't lost any signifcant amount of weight. The doc swears that I will, to just be patient, but honestly, at this point, I'm not seeing the benefits of having this surgery. I sisncerely hope this wasn't a waste of my time, since I looked so forward to this and worked so hard to finally get here.

For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled.
CWWorth,
You are only a few weeks out of surgery, it takes 3-4 weeks for your body to adjust to the new diet and you still have retention from surgery. I was stuck at the same weight for 5 days right after surgery I nearly cried every morning. Then one night in the middle of the night getting up to potty I stepped on the scale only to see I had lost 3 pounds! I am averaging about 1-2 pounds a week now and I am happy with that. I work hard at getting my fluids because I have noticed that I DO NOT loose as much if I slack on the liquids. I am almost 4 weeks post op and have lost 25 pounds. Keep up the spirits tho and walk as much as you can. Real exercise is not yet an option for me but I walk every opportunity I get.

Terri,
I am 4 weeks post op and still have to force myself to get 64 oz in. It doesn't get any easier until your new pouch accepts 2-3 oz at a time. I am just now at 4oz every 2-3 hours. I can drink water in between but still struggle to get 50 grams of protein and 64 oz of total fluids tho. Keep at it and don't make your self sick over it. My Dr. and Dietician both said to get down no less than 1/2 oz every 30 minutes or 1 oz per hour and that is how I build on it. I still have days when I sleep more than others and those are really my hardest days for fluid intake. The first two weeks or so you will NOT feel hungry or really even want to eat/drink. I like the crystal light lemon aid between protein and I use small dixie cups to freeze my shakes in for variety. I have also tried adding yogurt to my frozen shakes just be sure to keep good records of your intake. Good luck!
