Newbie

Hi everyone,

As the Header states, I'm a Newbie on this Message Board. I am in the process to getting the surgery done. I am trying to connect with people in my area, I live in Summerville, who have had or will have Gastric Bypass. My surgeon is Dr. Byrne, maybe anyone around here with the same surgeon even? That would be great!

Hi Heike...we love Dr. B, he is wonderful.   We have a group we call the Lowcountry Bypass buddies that is simply a group of us who have had surgery.  We don't meet as often as we used to, but still try to get together periodically.  See my post about our annual Christmas party this Sunday and let me know if you'd like to come and I'll send you directions.

Thank you so very much for your reply. I'd love to come to the Christmas Party, but unfortunately I have already got other plans that can't be changed. However, I'd like to stay in touch and maybe even get together someday.
My initial Appointment with Dr. B is tomorrow! I'm excited and nervous at the same time, but I know it's all good, lol!

Dr. Byrne is fantastic he operated on me two and a half  years ago. at the time I was 750 pounds! He was the only one willing to help me and he saved my life, right now I'm just under 400 and had my first plastic surgery on September 23rd along with a hernia repair. So I just want to congratulate you and tell you not to worry you are in great hands also his staff is fantastic too!!

  Dr. B was mine also.  He is a wonderful person.  I am post op 8mths.  I have lost 100lbs.  You will love him.  He is an awesome DR.  He is the best of the best!!  Good Luck with your journey.  I hope to meet you at a meeting.  I am hoping to get to one.  I would love to meet others that has had this.  So far I haven't made it to any support groups, but I will make a change this new year!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!

Thanks for posting, I also like to meet people that have had the surgery. I think it will be a lot easier if you know other Bypass patients, as I think we can help each other. There are always a lot of questions, a lot of new things, feelings etc. And of course, then there are new recipes to learn, etc. etc.
You are just around the corner, I'm in Summerville. Maybe we could meet sometime, get to know each other and then go to a Support Meeting together, lol. I didn't make it to the last one since I was diagnosed with a Kidney and Bladder infection and I was in too much pain to go. (Come to find out later in the ER it was more than that, I have a Kidney stone that I have not passed yet  ).
I can't believe you've lost 100 pounds in only 8 mth. I think I won't be able to comprehent it until it is happening to me, lol. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!  You must be so proud of yourself!!!
