Insurance Question

If you're out there and have Tricare Prime, I'd like to know how long it took to get the approval for WLS.  From the very first referral to the approval for the actual surgery.  Then, how long did it take to get a surgery date?  I'm sure it's different for everyone, but I'm trying to get an estimate.
Another question I have is....Is everyone required to go on a liquid diet before surgery?  I've read a lot of people talking about that, so I thought I'd ask.

I'll probably ask a million more questions through-out this process, so I hope no one gets tired of it.  Thanks!!!

I started my journey on 09-09-08 at the Seminar, I had about 7 other appointments and my first appoint was 09-11 and on 11-12 had my first appointment with my surgeon and on 11-14 I got approved to have my Realize Band Surgery. I am waiting only a surgery date now.

However a spoke to a lady in the waiting room of my surgeons office and she said she had everything done from start to finish in 6 weeks.

Yes it's a pretty quick process once you get all the test and the mandatory labs dealing with the surgery completed. The  longest for me was the waiting in between appointments before seeing the surgeon. Keep miving forward and you will be banded soon.

To try to answer a question or two for you because I have tricare prime and I am getting the Realized band on DEC 2. I went to the 2 hour seminar on 09-09 and after all the test and labs appointments that I had to go do before I could see the surgeon I saw him on November 12 and Tricare Prime approved me on Nov 14.

My doctor office have me on a atkins diet which I hate for two weeks prior to surgery. I am actually going nuts on that now and i will be on that through out Thanksgiving until I have my surgery Dec 2. I would rather do the liquid diet 24 hours before surgery then atkins for two weeks.
