My husband is planning to have surgery probably early next year.  He is diabetic and is worried about this with the surgery.  He takes 2 shots a day (50 units) and also takes medication for it.  If anyone had this before surgery, I would like to know how the surgery affected the problem?  I appreciate all help. Thanks

Tammy P.

I was diabetic  type 2  had to take shots and pills,  I came home from hospital no more shots, and no more pills.   I took my blood sugar for about a month and it was fine Dr B said I didn't have to check it anymore.   So it was immediate for me.     Best thing I ever did.

I had my surgery at the end of June with Dr. *****ett in Columbia, and at the time of surgery, I was taking 2 shots of Lantus each day, 50 units each.  Now, 3.5 months later, I'm down to 25 units once per day.  Still taking my Metformin oral meds, but I've decreased my Lantus by 75%, basically.  And again, that's just in about 3.5 months.  I agree - best thing I ever did for my diabetes.  I have hope that someday my diabetes will be fully resolved. I hope your husband experiences the same.
