Ok, i had my labs for my one year check up with dr bour last week and i go see him on my one year surgiversary on august 15th...ugh its been a year!! Anyway, i have gained 10 lbs in APril!!! is this supposed to be that difficult at not even a year out?? I joined a gym 4 weeks ago and lost 2 lbs and gained it again....i saw the nutritionist a couple of weeks ago cuz i was freaking out...i was heavier than my last appointement with her, by 1 lb....but still! So I am thinking of cancelling my one year check up because i have heard Dr Bour can be really rough on his patients...and i am in no mood for that right now, i am so discouraged. I dont eat sugar, i excercise like crazy, although since i have been so down, i have only made it to the gym a couple times in the past week or so...i never made it to 100 lbs lost....i made it to 99 lbs lost in april and that was it, now the scale is moving in the wrong direction. and its as if my body is fighting me every single step of the way!!

I'm so sorry you're going through this right now, but I would suggest keeping your appt. (My opinion )  Now would be the time to have everything checked out since you had your labs done and also to see what's going on.  With the exercise you could be gaining muscle, which weighs more.   You never know what's going on, but better to find out now then to wait and get more discouraged.   I just saw him and I gained some too.  We just talked about how it does get harder the further out you get, and what to do to make sure I get it going back in the right direction,  DOWN!    STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP!!!

HEY SWEETIE, DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER THIS AND DEFINETLY DON'T CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT. YOUR NOT ALONE ON THIS PROBLEM, BELIEVE ME, I STRUGGLE WITH IT EVERYDAY AND GET DOWN ABOUT IT WHICH MAKES ME WANT TO EAT MORE. I WENT OFF OF MY HORMONES AND I'M PLAYING HELL WITH IT. MY APPETITE IS TWO-FOLD AND MY LEGS AND FEET ARE STARTING TO SWELL AGAIN, SOMETHING I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM WITH IN YEARS. I'M THINKING ABOUT MAKING AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY PCP AND STARTING BACK ON THE HORMONES, SINCE DR. BOUR WOULDN'T WRITE ME A NEW PRESCRIPTION FOR THEM LAST TIME I WAS THERE TO SEE HIM. MY NEXT APPOINTMENT IS OCTOBER 2 WITH DR. BOUR AND I AM AFRAID THE SCALE IS UP FROM LAST TIME, NOT BY A LOT BUT ENOUGH THAT I NEED TO DO SOMETHING NOW. GO SEE HIM AND GET HELP THEN LET US KNOW WHAT HE SAYS SO MAYBE WE CAN ALL START LOSING AGAIN.
TAKE CARE!

Melissa, although I had to switch doctors, I was going to Dr. Bour when you got your approval.  I think you look AMAZING!  I know you must feel like a failure but girl, you don't LOOK like a failure and your description of your exercise and eating behavior is NOT that of a failure.  Hang in there!!!!

I'm doing well except for the fatigue.  I'm only 3 weeks post op but I'm still finding it hard to believe the extreme tiredness.  I'm ready for that part to be over!  LOL!

Hey Melissa,

It is possible if you've been working out a lot, that you are gaining muscle - which by the way weighs more than fat!  Have you taken measurements?  Are your clothes fitting better?  Numbers sometimes lie to us.  You may still be losing fat, but gaining muscle, which would result in you getting smaller, but your weight going up some.

*hugs*

Do not skip your appt.   I had some harsh words from my PA, and I haven't been back.  She was disappointed at the small weight loss I was having at 6 months out.     Now I'm embarassed to go back.

I've only lost 5 more pounds in the last year.   It's so disappointing, but I have only myself to blame.

I'm making a vow to myself to get back on the horse.   I'm starting with Eggface's protein ice cream to satisfy that dang sweet tooth of mine.   I'm always protein deficient anyway, so this might help.

Even as hot as it is down here, I'm going to vow to go out and walk every morning.  If I miss a morning, I have to make myself do it after dinner.

Take it a day at a time, but do stay in the routine with the surgeons office.   My PCP does my labs, but she isn't that well versed in reading and interpreting all the numbers.  I have to do my own research.

Good Luck!!
