hair loss
hi i am 4 months out from surgery and have lost 75 lbs, which is wonderful, however I and now starting to loose my hair.? Has this happened to anyone and if so why?, is it a issue with not getting enough protien or a vit or mineral problem? Any info would help alot, thanks. Anne

Welcome to the hair loss club. Any time you lose a large amount of weight fast, you also risk losing your hair. It could be your not getting enough protein or vitamins, but, I still lost some hair even though I was able to get plenty of protein and vitamins in. Mine has grown back for the most part, it's still a little thin on top, but better than last year. I also added additional biotin which I think helped also. Good luck!

I started losing my hair last month and when I say losing I mean losing!! I am scared to bru****! I do get my protien in at least 5 of the 7 days a week. Some days I am a little slacker than others. From the reading I have done on this subject it will slack off after a while and I am thanking the good Lord that I have alot of hair and am able to give some up without notice to anyone else. I am just trying to make it through this point and am hoping that it will soon stop. Good luck to you and hope that everythings goes well for you.
I had surgery 3/4/08. I 've started losing my hair too. I have always "shed" this time of the year. But it is alot worse this time. I do have alot of hair so maybe it won't be too noticeable. I have really Long hair. It's down to the bottom of my butt. I was trying to wait till I got to my goal weight and have a complete makeover. As long as it doesn't get too thin I'm still gonna stick with my plan. I've got little over 60 lbs. to go. So we will see which comes first. I've heard this is normal so I'm not gonna freak out or anything. We will take it one day at a time. Teresa M.
From everything I've been told, this is perfectly normal. I'm 9 months out & have lost 140 pounds & a good amount of hair (and I didn't have that much to lose in the first place!), but Dr. Byrne told me that around your 9th month out of surgery it'll start coming back in. I'm getting my proteins & vitamins in & supplementing with some biotin, so it's just a waiting game now.
Hang in there - the benefits are worth it!
