Feeling full

Howdy everyone, 11 days post op-I have a question as to feeling full.  I still have no concept of feeling hungry, full, satisfied, really kind of a nothing feeling.  I have been trying to smoothies and will drink what I think my stomach can hold but I do not get any kind of feeling.  Maybe my stomach has not woken up yet-I tried some mashed potatoes the other day-and I did get a pain under my rib cage so I stopped, they were probably not thin enough.  So far scrambled egg beaters, with a little cheese melted in. Even those I am careful to only try small pieces and chew up.  Let me know if this sounds familar.  I know I have to be patient, I am glad I do not feel hungry.  JoAnn

Yes JoAnn, it is normal.  It is wonderful  not to feel hungry or care about eating...I wish I could go back there.  Take it slow, you are doing great!

At 11 days out, you should still be on a liquid diet.  That's one reason you're experiencing problems.  It doesn't sound like you've been properly prepared for the changes you needed to make or the gradual progression of foods taht you can eat.  Your stomach at 11 days is not ready for mashed potaotes.  At 11 days, I was still on full liquids (pudding, yogurt). Then 2 weeks on pureed foods.  You're rushing things.  Yes, be patient.  If your doctor doesn't have a dietician on staff that you can call, find one.  If he does, call the dietician. A word of warning: that pain under your rib cage could be your gall bladder.  Have it checked.
