I am going to talk with Dr Byrne next week at MUSC. Please anyone who has had band or other please give me info and reassurance about the program. I am scared to death. I would love to hear from some of you who have been banded or are going to get banded at MUSC> thanks in advance, angela

I didn't have the band or have byrne but i can tell u that he is an awesome dr. I would recommend him to anyone. I use to work for him at musc but he went to the new hospital and I stayed here. I'm sure u will get more responces from byrnes patients. He's great! I know a few other nurses here that have had the band by him and they are doing great! Good luck!

Hey, I actually got RNY done yesterday at her at MUSC. DR. Bryne did mine. It turned out great I was up and walking three hrs later. I am laying the bed right now in a room at the hospital u cant actually get online via the tv and a wireless keyboard. NEAT HUH!

I am so glad to hear you did great.  I am going in next tuesday the 4th and need some courage.  So you can access the internet in the room or do I need to bring my laptop?  Let me know how you are doing.

ya, its already in the room, through the tv and theres like a wireless keyboard yo ucan just hold in your lap while in bed. Its great.  I hope you get andrea as your nurse. She is prob 45-50 yrs old. Short little white lady. She looks like sally fields, and she is just very very motherly.  I had several nurses while I was there and she was the only one I looked forward to seeing.

Dr. Byrne did my surgery just over 2 years ago and it was the best decision I have ever made.  It is normal to be scared.  But you are in the best hands possible.  You will love Dr. Byrne.  They will take care very good care of you. Julie

Dr. B did my surgery 2-1/2 years ago and I love him.  He is very caring...but shoots straight from the hip...which is what I like best about him. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

If you decide on Lap Band, I'd suggest looking at the experience factor.  They haven't been doing Lap Band for very long. MUSC is absolutely the best for RNY.
