I bought a lot of protein powder up front, but due to my lifestyle I ended up with a ton left because I always have found it difficult to mix unless you blend it. Also, I never liked any clear liquid one that I tried. However the milk based ones I like much better. However, I have a friend who likes the clear liquid bullets and still drinks them at a year out. I agree it is trial and error.

However, I have accumuliated some good tasting recipies that I do use when I am around my blender. I love my mocha and banana/choc one the most.

I use proti that is 15 grams that is in a drink box and pure protein that has 35 grams. I used pure protein bars for a number of months, but got tired of those. Now I use mainly the protein bar made by payday, not the true payday bar but they have a protein bar they make. It is good when you get tired of the chocholate flavors.

I haven't been able to use ANY powder since surgery - I gag and dry heave and throw up.  I tried the whole -  put a lid on it and use a straw because it might be the smell...nope...my entire day today was ruined because after that - I could barely eat or drink anything all day - I still feel a bit nauseated from it - and it was at 9am this morning - so it's 14 hours later!!

However, I do like the Grape Frost and Blue Rapsberry Isopure - though it's pretty expensive!  But my body needs the protein, and I HAVE to get some sort of shake everyday...

I'm like you-trying to find the inexpensive options. I went thru alot before finally deciding that I should just spend the money and get the expensive good stuff. I got overweight buying inexpensive foods--like from the dollar menu at McDonalds (although those 4 double cheeseburgers would eventually add up!!). You're worth it, you're bodies worth it, you're future is worth it. I would just buy it and cut back on other things (like those 4 double cheeseburgers I can no longer buy at McD's).  Good luck on the search. I could not find a protein drink I liked so I went the other way. I eat whole proteins alot and get it that way

There were a few that I could handle, but I'm still partial to Herbalife's Beverage Mix - it's 15 grams of protein in an 8-12 ounce glass of water & comes in Peach Mango (my FAVORITE!) and Wild Berry (good with a little Splenda mixed in).  There are Herbalife distributors just about everywhere (I know - I live with one!) since you can't get it in the stores.  It comes in a box of 7 for $10.95.  Good luck & keep trying different stuff - you're tastes will change over time & it's easy to get bored with a certain tastes.

I use Optimum Nutrition (ON) Pro Complex in Chocolate.

Serving = 2 Scoops

Calories = 270

Fat = 1 gram

Carbs = 5 grams (2 Fiber; 1 Sugars)

Protein = 60 grams

It's not the cheapest protein powder, but if you buy during the first 7 days of the month at GNC, you can get 20% off.

You can also reduce the serving to 1 scoop or 1.5 based on your daily caloric needs. You can also mix with water or milk. I've learned the best taste for me is half water and half skim milk, even though I can drink any way.
