Hello everyone, This is my first time on this web site.  I had my consultation with Dr. Rowitz in Anderson and if my insurance approves, I am to have surgery on June 16th.  I will go to have my psy. eval. in May.  I have been checking out this web site and it seems like there is a lot of support for everyone.  I am nervous already and am glad there are people out there that care. I know I have questions about the surgery before and after.  Can someone tell me what you talk about at your psy. appointment? Thank you to you all.

hi and WELCOME!!! Congratulations on your first steps towards this journey. I am not sure what Dr Rowits will go over with you, but the psych test for Dr Bour involved sitting at a desk with a pencil and answering TONS of questions...took a long time to take. Then a few weeks later, I went back in for my results. ~Melissa

Welcome aboard   I'm sure that you'll find a lot of useful information on this site.  I used this site extensively before my surgery.  What I like about this site (all forums) is that you can find answers to just about anything you would want to ask about WLS.  You'll also see the good, the bad, and the ugly.  I think that helps you become a more informed patient and know what kind of questions to ask your doctor.  I always place my support group as my #1, but in between meetings, you'll find me lurking here, digging up info to help me with my surgery.  This site really helped me because when I went in for surgery last Wednesday, I was going in for an RNY.  When I woke up I had a VSG!  That kind of threw me for a loop because I hadn't read up on it.  This site helped me tremendously!  I was able to get information on VSG and find out the differences.  (the surgeon had a good reason to switch, and my wife was consulted while I was in surgery).  So far things are going very well.  Hope this site helps you in your journey.  Don't be afraid to ask questions, I'm sure that there's lots of us that would love to help you out!

Welcome to OH!    I'm sure confident that  you'll find a lot of useful information on this site. I have also really enjoyed reading and using  this web site to meet people and ask questions. What I like about this site  is that you can find answers to just about anything you would want to ask about WLS and then some!!!!   You'll also can read about the good, the bad, and the ugly.  This is a journey that has up and downs,  I like to meet and talk with people who HAVE BEEN THERE and DONE that!! Know what I mean??  I very thankful for all the OH friends and support.  Welcome and I hope all goes well for you. I do not know much about Dr. Rowitz and his program.  Usually the Pysch eval is a written test and then going over the results .  Good luck with all your goals!!

My shrink just talked with me about my being over weight , how long its been this way & what I have tried in the past . To be honest it was like talking to a friend ,she was very nice to me, I even went back to her after the surgery when i felt like i was doing things wrong , again she was very nice & helpful .

I want to thank all of you for replying.  It seems like a lot of support is on this site and I am so glad for that. I think it really does help when you have support by so many people that are going through or who have already gone through the same thing.
