Good Morning,
You will LOVE SC. Its my favorite place cause I've always been here. Seriously. I would never move. And the people on this board are phenominal.
I'm 32 months out from WLS. I've kept 130 pounds off. I still fight with those last pesky 6 or 8 pounds, but that's okay. I like myself again and that's very important.
I've been too much of a lurker lately, thanks for pointing that out. Have a great Saturday
mary
Hi . Mary is right you will love SC. I am native of Charleston. I am 26 mths out from WLS and have lost between 115-120. It has been a never ending battle the past 6 mths. I have my own Pet Sitting company in Charleston that will be 3 years old in July. Other than my company, my life is pretty boring. But it is great because I get to play with puppy dogs all day long, and cats as well.
Have a great weekend.
Julie
I can go the distance... I do not care how far... I know every mile will be worth my while.
My goal in life is to be as good of a person as my DOGS already think I am!

Greetings from another transplant from the Bluegrass (I'm still true blue!). I've lived down here for about 20 years in Columbia. This is a very nice area. I like this area because It's halfway between the mountains and the beach (I grew up in the mountains of SE Ky). That way if I miss my mountains, I don't have far to go. Also, the people down here are a lot like the people that I grew up with. The only thing I miss down here is a little snow. I'd kind of like to see at least one decent snow (at least 2 inches) a year. The closest thing you can get down here is a "Carolina Snow" (i.e. frost). If you can survive the summers down here, South Carolina is a great place to live. I love going down to the coast, and going up to the mountains. I think you'll enjoy it. If you want to discuss some "commonwealth" stuff, let me know, I try to keep up as much as possible. Take care and welcome from another bluegrass transplant.
Well blue is good and once we convert a few of thses find folks into our blugrass ways ..lol Yea i wont miss the snow..... I just got my convertable in the shop thursday for paint I am ready for rides to the beach and the mountains..... Thanks for the helllo please be no stranger ...ps have ya started talking funnY ??? lol and will i ever crave grits???? please say NO>>>>

I think that you'll find that the folks down here don't talk that much different than in the bluegrass (I guess that depends on what part of the bluegrass) The people in the Columbia and towards the Greenville area pretty much talk the same as we do in the Ky mountains. Also, forget about finding burgoo down here (I think it's kosher for us WLS folks). I guess I'll have to wait til I get up to Keenland go get me some more. Once you get used to the heat and humidity, you'll really enjoy the people here. Just one BIG bit of advice, DO NOT DISCUSS PREFERENCES IN BBQ!! Down here, that's worse than talking politics! People down here take their BBQ personal. PS.. I don't like grits either, but I do enjoy iced tea (they make it good down here). Take care.

I am one of the lurkers. Don't post much at all. Girl of few words! I hope you love SC as much as I do, everyone does. I do read your poems and find inspriation from them, thank you for that. So far I have lost 130lbs. and am now fighting with the last 20 or so. I have recently taken up running and I can say that with every step I try to figure out how to get out of taking the next step. They talk of a runners high, I think they are crazy. But, I refuse to give this up, and I continue to trudge along.
Good luck to you and your girl friend. Please come to the Greenville area for a visit, I think you will find a great place here with lots to do. And grits are great!!!
