Update on myself....
For those of you who are new ... I'm Echo, 23 yrs. old, and a resident of Shaw AFB, SC. I had my Gastric Bypass done on 25FEB08. I weighed in at 275 and today I went in for a check up and they weighed me in at 247!!
Along with the good there is some bad ... they're sending me off to have a scope shoved down my throat to investigate why I puke all the time ... they suspect I have some scar tissue in the way and that my incision areas may need to be widened aka stretched out (oh joy). I am not looking forward to any of this of course but in the end I'd really rather stop looking as if I'm bulemic... eating and then running to the bathroom to puke is not attractive to anyone.
I have healed up pretty well, have went off the beaten path and eaten some stuff I'm not 'allowed' to eat just yet.... but had no problems with it. Adjusting to sugar free stuff isn't as hard as I thought it would be and my tastes are changing A LOT! I do not miss sweets like I once thought I would.
Finding a protein that I like is hard - I either puke it up because of texture or taste.... or just can't get it down because of the taste. I knew this would be a battle trying to find something I can tolerate.
I am glad that I am losing though, it's been exciting to see people who have not seen me in a while and the compliments they give of my shrinking.
I guess this is it for now, I'm so tired ... thinkin' of takin' a nap!!!
Good luck with the scope, I am sure it wont be bad at all, least if yours is done like mine they give you some spray 1st ,then some drugs, it was the same afternoon & did not remember a thing from the day before even though my wife said I had talked to her with what she thought was a clear head before she left the hospital for the night ! lol
I am 17 months post op RNY and I still puke ,most times I know why ie eating too fast, not chewing enough or just plain eating too much or any combo above ,BUT I will say I still have not tried sugar & do not inteed too , I never had that much of a sweet thooth anyway, more of a meat & tater man , which btw , since the surgery I rather a a cup of chili than deal with the risk of getting sick from a steak & IF I do eat a steak, I rarey swollow it, gross as it sounds, I chew, suck the flavor & then very polity spit it out!
Congrats on your sucess at the weigh in !!
