Anyone familiar with this? I was told MUSC has a residency program where patients cant get plastic surgeries at a lower price.  Any info greatly appreciated.

I haven't heard of it, but I am not sure I would want a resident doing my plastics.....

Sounds interesting if you can't afford plastics, but, when it comes down to my body, I would only want a top notch, board certified plastic surgeon cutting on me. This isn't a type of surgery that I would want someone  who is "practicing", it  isn't reversable and once it's done your pretty much stuck with the end results, unless you can get someone else to do revisions, and then your back to paying out the kazoo for someone elses mistakes.  I know they have to start out somewhere, but let them work on cadavers, lol. I would definetly think twice about it. Mary

Nope never heard of that. I know they have something similar for dental there but I'm like everyone else I don't want anyone but a professional doing my plastics. And yes I know professionals mess up too but I just wouldn't feel comfortable with a student.

Thanks to all the "opinions" on the surgery, but has anyone been through the program and will share any experience. Thanks

After speaking with them, there is a program offered, the discount is half off of the normal surgeon fee.  From what I understood the Professor is with the resident doing the surgery, but dont quote me on that....There is a 50.00 fee for a consultation to discuss what procedures to have done and costs...I made an appointment for June to look into this, I requested June for more time to save more money....Thanks

I work for MUSC and have never heard of this. Thanks for mentioning it. MUSC is a teaching hospital so whatever surgeries are done, there are residents there and helping. I'm gonna call tomorrow for more info. I'm in the process of getting some work done.

When I had my gallbladder removed the main surgeon was booked and it had to be done so he asked me if I would like for the new surgeon to do it. So I did and he did a great job I was his first surgery by himself I'm not sure I would do it again but I was in alot of pain then. Turns out he was a good surgeon although I think my scars are a little big.
