I had my GBS (RNY) on 2-25-08. I am having to force myself to eat... I don't want to eat ...  If I do eat - I feel sick, if I don't eat - I feel sick... can't win for losing! I'm up to Pureed foods and I am having the hardest time finding something to eat that won't make me sick to my tummy.... I'm sick of pudding and mashed potatoes. All I really want is tea, water, & sometimes milk.... still taking my vitamins of course those I will take no matter what my pouch thinks about it! Anyone else had these issues? Any yummy recipes?  Also - I haven't had any protein shakes or anything since my surgery... I feel terrible about it but I cannot find anything that I like!!! So far the only think I get from protein drinks is a one way pass to the toilet puking my guts up... its been terrible thus far...  not sure what to do... i just wanna end this rampage!

Sorry to hear about that.  Since my wife and me will be going the same route soon, I am also curious.  Have you tried those profect drinks (the ones in the little tubes)?  I'm curious about them.  We tried them, and they taste like tart kool-aid.  and because it's less than 3oz with 25g of protien, it sounded like it'd be great for wls patients.  Have you thought about catfish stew? All you'd have to do is puree the potatoes.  It might be worth the try.  I hope you come to a truce with your pouch.  Keep us posted, it helps us people that are getting ready to start the journey know what we might come up against.

you really need to try to get in some protein.. even if its from Taco bell pinto and cheese .. lol seriously... when i was on clear protein i had to freeze 2 oz cups of isopure, and eat them like an italian ice every 30 minutes so i would get in at least some protein.. then when i moved on to full liquids i did the Pure Protein Banana Cream shakes, with 35 grams of protein, and they are AWESOME. seriously. try that. if you like banana shakes, its pretty close to it, and doesn't leave a protein taste in your mouth.  you can always get the unjury protein mix that is "no flavor" .. which it DOES taste if you dont mix it up with stuff.. for instance, use skim milk, unjury, sugar free/fat free chocolate syrup and make it a chocolate milkshake, and ice and blend.. and of course the unjury protein powder.. good luck with everything!!! it DOES get better. i promise!

I totally agreee with Jennifer..... I did what and used what she did. so basically  my post would say "Ditto" lol  .  I still keep the pure protein "banana" shake in my refrige now....to add protein to my day -if I need it.  The main thing is always the protein!! Hang in there....It a process ....a journey....sometimes bumpy ride...but hold on the best is yet to come! Angela

During my pureed days I was using my pressure cooker to cook carrots or broccoli or green beans (with my regular spices and some spray I Can't Believe It's Not Butter) and then one of the baby food grinders to grind it up. It was pretty yummy and made me feel good to actually eat "real food" again! Just be forewarned the food still doesn't taste the same as it used to during this time but don't worry, in another month food will taste yummy again. For my protein I was using the Profect "tubes" and I really liked most of them

Karen

This is going to be a  fear of mine as well...not being able to tolerate certain things and the things I need the most...proteins.  I also have a thing about throwing up and that's an even more serious fear of mine.  Ya'll just tell me to shut up and stop whinning...I'll understand. Wanda
