Ok!  Many of you know that I have had major drama in my life during the last 14 months.  Yesterday I went to the family doctor and he wants to take me off the ambien (not working for me anymore...shows signs of addiction) and he put me on seroquel.  When I came home and did the research I saw that it was used to treat bipolar disorder and manic depression.  It can be used to treat insomnia but I'm freaked.  It did help me sleep and THEY say it isn't habit forming but I'm worried.  Also, it has been known to cause weight gain (increase appetite).  That freaks me out too.  However, BCPs and all that can cause weight gain too so maybe this won't either...we will have to see.  Has anyone here been on it and what were your experiences with it?

I have had chronic sleep problems since I was a teenager and I have tried just about everthing out there. The one thing about serquil is that it will lose its effectivness rather quickly in my opinion. My docotor put me on restoril to get off of ambien and it worked great.

Seroquel in low dosages is used for insomnia.  I take Seroquel mainly for depression.  My appetite hasn't increased since I started the med but I have been experiencing a four week stall.  Don't know if I can attribute the stall to the med though.

Hey Rachel,    Kelly took it after her father passed away and it was great for her.  When she was better she tapered of it easily, I remember that it did help her sleep Good Luck Mary
