I'm Home

I'm home. I feel pretty good. I think the worse day for pain is the second day. All of the soreness has had time to set in. I had my buddy the pain pump.  I wanted to tell everyone thank you for all your thoughts & prayers I appreciate it. Teresa M.

Great news, Teresa!  I'm new to the board, but I've been paying attention to your posts and your progress...I just haven't posted until today. I'm also a patient of Dr. Bour.  I enrolled last February and I see him on April 16th.  If all goes well, I'm looking at surgery around mid-late May.  I am still afraid of the process, but seeing that you've done well gives me encouragement. Glad to hear you are doing well.  Once I got home I never took a pain pill. I was mostly just sore. Every day get better.  Hang in there....do what you are supposed to do.  Everything will be fine. You'll be amazed!! Angela

Angela, I think alot of my soreness was having to do for myself in the hospital. If Barbara or Hubby wasn't there I had to struggle to get out of the bed. I had a sorry nurse. I would call and she wouldn't show up. One evening my IV was out I call nobody came I got up and went to the nurses station. I said, very angerly can someone change this bag out so it will stop beeping. And my "nurse" just stood there. This other little nurse changed it for me. Those beds aren't made for short people at all. Even sitting on the side I couldn't reach the floor. The ones that were on the other hall they had great nurses, no problems. I will tell Dr. B about it when I go for my 1st appointment. I didn't say anything that day I was leaving to come home. So I fell that hindered my recovery some. I couldn't depend on that nurse. The night nurses were wonderful, no problems. Ok I've complained enough. But anyway, I do feel better now that I'm home.     Teresa M.

So sorry about that!  I had a horrible NIGHT nurse...I called @ 10pm for some pain meds and I called every hour when she didn't show up..FINALLY at 2 am....I had --HAD IT!  I said in the calmest voice I could....someone needs to give me my meds NOW. Yes...be sure to tell Dr. Bour.  Not too much he can do...but he can at least mention it.  Home is the best place! If you need anything....let me...or us know! Angela

Thank you Mary. I do feel even better today as far as the soreness goes. I've been trying to remember to sip not gulp. I still have times that I will have to hold it in my mouth and let a little go down at a time but I'm getting better. I've been walking inside because of the weather. Raining or the wind blowing so hard it's blown a few dead trees down in the road below my house. It won't be long I be out there walking like I'm supposed to. Thanks, Teresa M.
