i had lap. gastric bypass on monday and got home on wednesday. i am doing ok i guess. i feel that my surgeon and his staff should have outlined things a lot better... they didn't tell me how  much i should eat a each meal... just handed me a list and said see you next week. i have been getting a fever almost every night ... highest its gotten is 102 - only at night but that's ok. i think my body is trying to torture itself... i've been having cravings for something to chew on allllll day long... but i have not given in......  i hadn't posted since i'd been home so i thought i would. i have 7 incisions total and weigh more than what i did when i went in 'cause of all the fluids which i hope they go away soon as they are very annoying with the swelling and such. sending out lots of love to pre-ops and those who just made it home... i've been there and praying for you all.

i just asked about you on the other thread! lol.. that fever does NOT sound good !! u need to call the doctor on call and get some antibiotics it sounds like a possible infection? i know everytime ive had surgery its "if you get a fever over 101, call immediately" so i wouldnt let that go through the weekend without telling someone. .its not normal i dont think. and at night is usually when ur fevers go up so definately call! (im not a dr, but just saying for your health make sure its okay! :)  other than that you sound like youre doing well.. when i came home i was on a clear liquid diet no solid food for 2 weeks, then soft foods, then regular foods by 1 month post op.. take it easy, try soups and broths, and not much of it. .1 oz should be your max right now i think it was. .im sorry you werent well informed. .and i know some people go home on "regular food' but think of your pouch as a newborn babies' new stomach, we dont feed them real food that fast. .you should do pureed food(babyfood consistency) if nothing else.. good luck with everything!! make sure you get some protein in.. and CONGRATS! jen

Glad to hear you are home.  I would watch that fever too. YOu do not want to wait too long.   To gain some fluid weight after surgery is normal....and I also had major CHEWING issues....My mouth wanted to move..even if I was not hungry or eating!...I chewed gum...which helped some.  You are in my thoughts.  Keep us posted!  This is just the beginning of a great wonderful journey.  It a process...enjoy each stage!
