I am so interested in starting a support group where I am from.  It is a small town and there are a lot of people who have had this surgery in the surrounding area.  The closest support meetings are 65 miles away from me.  If anyone knows where I would start please let me know.  I have talked to a few people who say they are interest in coming.  I just am not sure what kinda requirements or what I would do to be able to start one.  Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

I don't think it takes anything special to start a support group. Just decide on a place to have it then encourage everyone to attend. Best place to start is on here, if the people are on this site, it's easier to get them interested. Also you might ask your GB doctor if you can post a flyer in their office giving the info and who to contact for the meetings. The support groups can be fun and you can include things like clothes, protein, and recipe exchanges, along with the normal support each can offer the others by talking about experiences, fears, problems and all those exciting accomplishments. It's great that your wanting to do this and I wish you the best in getting it started. I know having the support group in the upstate has helped me out in my weightloss journey. Take care! Mary
