I had surgery on Friday and was discharged on sunday. My doctor did'nt let me have anything other that clear liqiuds at this hospital so now I am tring to figure what to eat. It is like learning to eat all over again. I am at home now recovering nicley except thatI have a massive headache. I have not need to rake any pain medication for my stomach only for my headache. Does my headache meen that I am dehydrated or something, I am drinking lots of water and propel, 64 oz a day or is it from not getting enough food ?  Any advise would be welcome  Anne

How in the world are you able to get in 64 oz of fluids already? I had a really bad migraine for about 4 days after surgery. The pain meds they gave me for my stomach (loratab) did NOTHING for it. I take imitrex nasal now because of the absorbtion problem we have after surgery. Try taking some liquid tylenol or crushing tylenol up and taking them. I wouldn't swallow them whole quite yet tho.

Hi Anne.  Did you drink a lot of caffiene before surgery?  Could be a withdrawal headache.  If it doesn't get any better, call the doc and ask them. You sould try to get in some solids.  You can have some clear chicken broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles and see if you can find a protein shake you like/can tolerate.  You don't need to push a lot of food but if you can get a little in (especially with a little protein) you will feel stronger faster.  But keep sip sip sipping tha****er, it is important too. Good luck...and welcome to the losing side!
