PS Consult - No Disrespect Intended

I have my first (and only) PS consult.  I've decided to see Dr. Fowler, he's the Chief of the Plastic Surgery Division at Greenville Hospital - he's certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons, (so he knows all about "us")  I just need to see if during the consult we "click", because this will be my one and only consult.  After mulling around, talking with DH and praying my deicision is that if it is meant to be for me than it is meant to be, I've done all my research (just like before WLS) and feel confident that his qualifications are there.  Hopefully everything will go smoothly, insurance will pay and all will be good, but if not, I'm not going to stress about it and run around trying to find someone who can "just get me approved".  I think that (for me personally) there has to be more than the approval as my main focus - this is my body and quite possibly, my life so I better trust that I'm making the right decision for all the right reasons.  I'm looking at it this way - I see him on Feb. 18th - (Jen's birthday and the date of her PS) so IT"S GONNA BE A GREAT DAY!  Can't ask for any more "signs" that it was meant to be.  I'll keep you all posted cause I haven't heard too much about him on the board.  But.. if anyone has any "insider" information please pass it on.  I want to go into this with my eyes wide open, good and bad alike - its the only way to make an informed decision.   Thanks.

He sounds like he would be a good doc ! And I agree with you should go with your gut. My first approval wasn't of any importance once I changed docs, they resubmitted my pics and all to get the 2nd approval so its really just up to your insurance. They took into account that i was previously approved and looked back at that approval to help with the 2nd.  I dont think any one doc can get you approved more than the next if your insurance is easy to deal with its just luck! And I agree the 18th sounds like a GREAT day for both of us! LOL. I also think that every ps is good/bad for each person due to their own issues and needs.. There are always pros and cons for everyone. I haven't heard anything good or bad about Dr. Fowler, but I dont live in greenville so i wouldnt .. Let us know how it goes! :)

Good luck Colleen.  I am like you I went with one PS who I had hear lots of about and who was also recommended/approved of by my GB surgeon.  I have had some complications....but not his fault at all...and he has taken WONDERFUL care of me.  Go with your gut....that is definitely the best...keep us posted!
