My surgery went well on Monday. I did not get into a room until after 9pm. I went for my swallow test the next morning at 8:30 but did not get any juice until supper time that evening. That went all well and then bright and early the next morning one of the residents came by and said they were sending me home that day, wow that was quick!! I did not do real well with the grits, but I guess it was enough for Dr. Morgan and I was out before 1pm. I am still trying to get in my water and I am not even going to tell you how bad my protein intake is right now. I already feel like I am failing my new tool, but I know it will get better as the days go by. I am getting in a little walking and my dad has helped out big time with the house and kids. I am just  trying to tell myself to take it one day at a time.          April

Welcome to the loser's bench! I'm so glad everything went well for you. Man! grits? Dr. Bour wouldn't let us have anything like that for weeks! You are not alone with the protein. We all went thru that. Just get in as much as you can and find the one that works best for you. Plus the foods/drinks... taste a lot different for the 1st 2 months so don't let that get you down. If you need anything we are here for you!
Hugs,
Karen

Congratulations on your road to a new life. Everyone has a bunch of mixed emotions at first.......it is normal to feel like you aren't doing right, but you really can't until you body gets used to your new system. Good luck and just stay focused and the newness will be over before you know it........and many pounds gone(that is the plus) and you will feel so much better.  Tina Z

April, Welcome to the loser's side. I'm glad to hear all went well for you and that you're home and resting. Don't worry about the protein just eat some popsicles and drink plenty of fluids. If you need anything let me know and I'll help out in any way I can.

Congrats April...and welcome to the loser's side.  I am with everyone else, just make sure you sip, sip, sip so you don't get dehydrated and popsicles and sugar free jello saved me the first week.  You have plenty of time to start getting the protein in....no one can do it the first few weeks. Good luck and keep us all posted on your progress!

Congratulations, April!  Take it one day at a time - keep sipping & get in as much protein as you can, but don't obsess over it.  This is a time for change & challenges, but you're gonna do great! WELCOME TO THE LOSERS' BENCH!!!
