Ok, my insurance policy only has one requirement.  BMI over 40 with no comorbidities.  I know I spelled that wrong.  In any case Dr. Ross requires a 6 week diet program, is that through his office or do I need to go to another Dr for that? Thanks in advance, Karen

You can use Weigh****chers, or really any supervised program.  Just get Diane's or Norma's advice before you waste any time.  I followed the South Beach Diet program, and went through my GYN's office for approving my paperwork and a letter of medical need.  Wishing you much success!

If I'm not mistaken they gave me a paper and I took it to my PCP for  the 6 week diet... they recorded my weight and date and what type of diet I was put on for that time... Good luck and know you're in very good hands with Dr. Ross Stephie

Hey Karen, I went to my family doctor and he gave me these little food/excercise books to keep up with what i was doing everyday.. I went in to see him every two weeks and he would go over my diet/excercise and note what I did and what he suggested I do different the next few weeks..At the end of the six weeks, my family doctor printed out his notes for me..no biggie, i made an appt. with him like the day after the seminar, just to go ahead and get a step ahead of the game...so if i was you i would go ahead and start the diet..My family doctor was really awesome about it, and the first week he wanted me to just write down my "normal" food intake..ect...and then councled me from there..:) best of luck to you, and congrats on your decision on having the surgery!!! and btw..dr.ross is freaking awesome...your'e gonna love him!!! hugs, nora
The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.
