Hey to everyone!  I have been looking into having surgery for quite sometime. I switched over to my husband's insurance so I could get the surgery but now I found out he picked a different plan and it doesn't cover anything weight related.  So here's my question: I have looked into getting my own private policy. It is expensive but if it would pay it would be worth it. Has anyone ever done this? If so, which ones worked? I put an application in for BCBS blue plan. Thanks for your help!!

our family business has blue cross blue shield of sc , small group.. and its a written exclusion in the policy that no matter what it does not cover. my father was over 600 lbs with diabetes and he still had to self pay as well.. make sure you read the policy book very well and it will state if its an exclusion or not. good luck! ( i think united healthcare covers? im not real sure really! lol)

UnitedHealthcare does cover WLS. At least the plan that I have. I've been approved too. It took about 10days.The plan I have is UnitedHealthcare  PPO. Good Luck. Teresa M.
