Charleston area pizza

Ok...first of all...I know some people may get "bent" because I am asking this question about a so called "bad" food....so sorry in advance...LOL

Anywhoo..being relatively new to the area....I don't know the best places to take my family for things like pizza. I am looking for a SPECIFIC TYPE of pizza. I want Chicago deep dish style pizza....NOT NY pizza. I have searched online...but no real results. Plus...the best way to find it...is to ask someone who knows the area....and has been to the best! Please share with me if you know of any such places. Thanks!

Don't know about deep dish but I do know of 3 places that have GREAT pizza. 1. Mellow Mushroom~downtown Charleston 2. Andolini's~ Rivers Ave Charleston 3.Italian Bistro~Summerville Trolley Road. The best of those 3 to me is Mellow Mushroom. I'm not too crazy over pizza but my kids and husband are and they love going to MM. Good luck and I hope you find some place you like.

I've heard that Sharkey's downtown has real Chicago style deep dish pizza but every time i've gone there they were closed.  I'd call first...good luck and if you find a good one let me know.

Don't know about "chicago" style pizza...but the pizza at Andolini's is the best to me. And...the obvious, we woud love to have you and your family at one of our LCBB meetings at Pizza Inn on Rivers avenue.  They allow us to eat at kids buffet price and have a good salad bar and will make a "pizza bowl" with no crust that is WLS friendly if you are being good. Hope to see  you some Thursday night from 5:30ish to 6:30ish....or later if a lot of people are there!
