I would like to invite you to join iRUN! It is a great program to get us walking and eventually will teach us the proper way to run! The program is free so now what is the excuse! LOL! iRUN meets on Saturday mornings in Cleveland Park. The Phase I program begins tomorrow. Information is below. Hey, if I can do it - YOU can! {{hugs}} Karen Three Phase Program Phase I- This four week program is designed for anyone brand new to running or who has been inactive for 6 months or more . It incorporates flexibility, strength, balance and an introduction to cardio training to help you build a strong foundation. This is perfect for anyone wanting to get started or round out their fitness portfolio. phaseoneconditionprogram.doc Phase II- This ten week walk to run program was the foundation of iRUN when it began. Since then it has been modified to allow for a safer progression and physical adaptation. The goal is to run 30 minutes consecutively after the 10 weeks. Start Phase II after you have built an initial conditioning base such as Phase I. walktorun.doc Phase III- As the follow-up to Phase II, in Phase III you will start to incorporate some basic aerobic and anaerobic training principles to allow you to mature as a runner. You will learn that you have more than one running pace and also the importance of cross training and progression. This eight week program can be completed and then repeated as many times as you want. descriptionandprogram.doc PHASE IV- If you have completed the eight week Phase III program with flying colors, this is your next mission. Karen, I would like to do this. I just read the post today. Is it going to be too late to start? Which program are you doing? My hope is to run by this summer. I now walk for about four miles at a time. This sounds like what I need. Let me know.
